When did STAR Events begin?

The STAR Events program, which stands for Student Taking Action with Recognition, was initiated to provide students with opportunities to showcase their skills and knowledge in various competitive events. This initiative began in 1983 during the National Leadership Meeting, establishing a structured format for participants to engage in their projects and demonstrate their learning in the context of Family and Consumer Sciences. Since its inception, STAR Events have evolved to encourage personal growth, teamwork, and leadership skills among students, making 1983 a significant milestone for FCCLA.
